Our New Curriculum

ASPIRE-FLOURISH-ACHIEVE

At Hawkchurch Primary School, we are committed to providing a rich and holistic educational experience that nurtures the whole child.  Our curriculum intent reflects our core values, vision and aspirations for our children.  Here are the key elements of our curriculum:

  1. Inclusive Learning Environment: We create an inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels safe, valued and respected.  Our curriculum celebrates diversity and recognises the unique strengths and needs of our pupils. Our school promotes a sense of family as we know our children and families well.
  2. High Aspirations: We inspire our children to aim high and believe in their potential. Our curriculum encourages ambition, curiosity and a growth mindset.
  3. Christian Values: As a Church of England school, we embed Christian values such as resilience, community, compassion, perseverance, respect and enjoyment.  Our curriculum promotes moral and spiritual development and embraces the outdoor environment.
  4. Community Engagement: We actively involve parents, carers and the local community in our curriculum. We collaborate with external partners to enrich our children's learning and experiences and enhance their cultural capital.
  5. Outdoor learning: We prioritise outdoor learning to connect our children with nature and promote well-being.  Outdoor experiences foster resilience, creativity, a sense of wonder and teaches children how to care and look after the environment to be global citizens of the future.
  6. Skills and knowledge: Our curriculum emphasises both subject specific knowledge and transferable skills to prepare children adequately for the next steps and create a solid foundation for years to come.  We equip children with essential life skills such as critical thinking, communication and problem solving.
  7. Broad and balanced curriculum: We offer a diverse range of subjects which ensures a balance between academic rigor and personal development.
  8. Progression and assessment: We track children's progress and adapt our teaching to meet their needs.  We conduct regular assessments to inform our planning to support individual growth.  Pupils needs are supported through adaptive teaching in lessons.
  9. Preparation for life beyond school: Our curriculum prepares children for the challenges of the future. We foster resilience, adaptability and a sense of responsibility.
  10. Joy of learning: We believe that learning should be enjoyable and meaningful.  Our curriculum sparks curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love for learning.

In summary, our curriculum intent at Hawkchurch Primary is to empower children with the knowledge, skills and values that will serve them well throughout their lives.  We strive to create confident, compassionate and well-rounded individuals who will contribute positively to society.
